What level am I?
Roped Up’s ability levels
To help create well-matched groups and shared private instruction bookings, we have 6 different ability levels: the first 3 are on-piste only; level 4 (advanced) would cover advanced level on-piste and some off-piste experience. The highest grades (Expert and Expert Plus) are Roped Up’s ability levels that apply for off-piste skiers.

- Novice
You are a total beginner and get nervous at the top of a blue run, or don’t even know what that means!
- Progressing
Confident to ski blue pistes in all conditions and skis reds when the conditions are good.
- Intermediate
You are able to ski reds confidently in all conditions and tackle the odd black run. You may have done some easy off piste.
- Advanced
You are comfortable on all pistes including harder blacks. You have reasonable off piste experience and enjoy it when the conditions are good.
- Expert
You have considerable off piste experience, possibly some touring and have some knowledge of mountain craft. Steep couloirs and tight trees may be out of your comfort zone but you might give them a go if the conditions are right.
- Expert plus
You have no boundaries (within reason). You enjoy all terrain and cope in all conditions.
